Who Remembers?: The Vines…

the-vines

In the early 2000’s, during the garage-rock revival, where bands like The Strokes, The White Stripes, The Hives, and other bands with ‘The’ in their name were seeing massive press, for a small time The Vines seemed poised to top them all.

Their lead singer was so frantic on stage and had such screeching vocals that the energy of his stage persona coupled with fast-paced and crunchy guitars was not to be missed.

After they scored an Alt-Rock hit with the song “Get Free” they were riding pretty high.

That is until their lead singer has a mental breakdown on Letterman due to his chronic Asperger’s Syndrome.

After that, they kind-of faded away into the shallow mix of ‘The’ bands they would have otherwise toppled.
