Star Trek, the animated series, is also known by the title The Animated Adventures of Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek. It is set in the Star Trek universe. It was originally aired under the name Star Trek, but was later changed so it wouldn’t get confused with the live action show of the 60’s. The animated version of Star Trek went on to actually win an Emmy Award.
The show ran for two season during the years 1973 to 1974. It was produced by Filmation and Paramount Television. There was a total of 22 episodes and the show was a half hour long. The writers of this show basically used the scripts of the live action show to write the episode of the cartoon. A copy of the series bible is now being held at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley all contributed their voiced to the show to make it more real for viewers.
