Who Remembers?: Brian Wilson’s Rap Song…

Rapping Rodney, the Joe Pesci music video, Pat Boone singing Metal songs; This MIGHT just trump them all.

Post-Acid

Brian Wilson: American pop genius, primary songwriter for the Beach Boys, envied by Paul McCartney, rapper?

That’s right, after his complete mental breakdown and subsequent “rehab” (he was taken by experimental therapist Dr. Eugene Landy and basically was secluded in Hawaii for the 80’s under a strict health regiment and essentially also agreed to give all creative and PR control over to Lundy) he decided to release 1989’s “Sweet Insanity.”

The album, co-produced by crazy Dr. Landy, was deemed so bad that Wilson’s label, Sire Records, refused to release it.

That didn’t stop bootlegs from surfacing. Which brings us to the last track on this abortion of an album: “Smart Girls.”

It’s a rap song…about smart girls…sung by a 47 yr old Brian Wilson. Also, it’s noteworthy to point out that the track uses a strong amount of early Beach Boys samples; Due to the producer of this specific track having been a member of The Dust Brothers.

Picture Beach Boys rapping with Beastie Boys production.

Way to choose a picture of the band that doesn’t include Brian. Also, it’s Dr. Landy.

    *quick edit* What misspelling?

    Me fail English? That’s unpossible.

Also, the Brian-less pic was intentional as a sight-gag for eagle-eyed fans.
