So, as I’ve mentioned in a previous post, I’ve been casually cyber stalking Julia Nunes. Like most good stalkers, I carefully use Facebook to keep up with the goings-on that my future wife chooses to share with me. Earlier today Julia decided to share a blog she likes called Hyperbole and a Half. HaaH is a web comic created by someone named Allie Brosh who wrote this on her “About” page:
If I had to explain myself in six words, those words would be “heroic, caring, alert and flammable.” That’s only four words. Oh well, I guess I should have thought of that before I started writing. Too late now.
After breezing over a few of Allie’s posts I decided that I also like this blog, and should share it with my DAPS friends. Specifically, I think they’d like ALOT.
Meet ALOT, a creature which “kind of looks like a cross between a bear, a yak and a pug” You might find yourself asking, “What is an ALOT exactly?” I’m glad you asked!
The Alot is an imaginary creature that I made up to help me deal with my compulsive need to correct other people’s grammar… For example, when I read the sentence “I care about this alot,” this is what I imagine:
Now, A lot of people use the phrase “a lot” wrong; So if you ask me, this is a pretty solid way to deal if you’re one of those nasty grammar nazis. Your friends are saved from harsh unnecessary criticism and you get to giggle about the imaginary creature you learned about.
