Well….. not according to rottentomatoes.com. The film is actually reviewed as 64% fresh and scored a 53 out of 100 in other reviews. See folks, this is why hollywood should stop making movies based off of great books/graphic novels. The only one who actually pulled it off was Frank Miller…. and he even sold his soul and went into the fire with a train wreck called The Spirit.
It’s the minor details that make the films worth seeing by fans. Little details like the line that was cut out for the movie from the novel, where Ozzymandias completes his lifelong dream and shouts “I DID IT!” with the sheer joy of his dream being realized. To me, if your going to create something from a masterpiece, you want to put it together as accurate to the masterpiece as possible.

I am still going to see this move over the weekend because I am in fact a fan. My only word of advice to Hollywood is if they want to make an awesome horror/action film, they should do a microscopic documentary on Brendan’s mouth.

The Rottentomatoes percentage discouraged me a bit too. However, oddly enough, Roger Ebert’s (I think he sucks) review(s) of the movie gave me some hope. Anyway, I watched it this morning, and loved it. I thought it was very well done. The opening credits are AMAZING.
I think people shit on Zack Snyder because 300 was macho bullshit faggot garbage, but so was Frank Miller’s book. 300 always sucked.
This movie isn’t perfect though. There are definitely some flaws, but the Director’s Cut DVD/BluRay will probably help a lot in terms of making up for those flaws.
Anyway, I hope you like this movie. It doesn’t spit in the face of the book.
