This past week, Tyler Perry, that guy that makes those movies white people don’t watch, told People magazine that for his 40th birthday he will be buying a private island.
This is a move that is sure to bring Perry closer to his down-home grass-roots audience. Nothing says ‘I’m just like you’ quite like buying yourself a private island as a birthday gift.
Not ‘Someone bought it for him as a surprise’ (as grandiose as that would still be), Tyler Perry is buying himself a private island so that he can stay far, far away from the people who give him the disposable income to be able to purchase a private island in the first place.
Is Tyler Perry in the wrong here? I think so. Maybe I’m crazy; ignorant perhaps. Maybe I’m just sick of the endless string of Black Ernest Madea films that have invaded my consciousness the past few years.
What do you think?

His movies are shit, his writing is even shittier. I hate this man, but it’s always good to know that even in this recession he still has the money to by himself an Island. Go choke on a chicken bone (no racism intended)…(kinda)
