If you are not aware, when it comes to American Idol, you can call me queen gossip. I turn into an obsessed teenager during the season of American Idol every year. I get emotionally attached to many contestants, like I’m sure most of you do, and cry when they get sent home or do not win the finale. I got my heart broken twice this year my friends, that’s right, TWICE!!
On day one of the audition process, I fell in love with Danny Gokey. A recent widower, Danny’s raw talent made me a fan from the start. Ever hear of Joe Cocker? This kid sounds like him.
Now my boyfriend Brendan thinks that Danny played the sympathy card all season because his wife passed away only a few short weeks before he tried out. Try they didn’t talk about his wife dying after the second show until he was sent home the week before the finale! Heart break number 1 ladies and gentlemen! This kid was never in the bottom three all season!
Because of copyright laws I cannot find a live American Idol performance anywhere on You Tube. I was able to find a video with him singing ‘What Hurt’s The Most’ with wonderful pics of him. Listen to it for a few if you would like.
Adam Lambert was by far the most controversial contestant ever on American Idol. From the beginning pictures surfaced of him dressed up in drag and making out with another man? You be the judge.
That doesn’t even look like him! Anyway here is the other one.
Adam put together an amazing performance week after week, and was only in the bottom three once this season. The best performance for me was when he sang ‘Mad World.’ Here is a clip of him singing it on Live! with Regis and Kelly.
His sexuality has been in the spotlight all season. The eye-liner wearing rocker refuses to comment on his choice in life partners but is happy to be a role model for kids throughout America. “Embracing who you are and what makes you different is actually what’s really cool … The kids that are different and out there and expressive and are bold with those choices, those are the people that grow up to be people we all want to hang out with, that become celebrities or become really successful in what they do because they believe in who they are.”
In recent news, former American Idol contestant Clay Aiken had a few choice words for Adam Lambert’s performance of Johnny Cash’s ‘Ring of Fire.’ On his blog he wrote, “Contrived, awful, and slightly frightening,” Aiken wrote. “Just not my cup of tea at all.” A day later, he apologized for his comments: “I do apologize to Adam for my colorful (and negative) choice of words. I hope he can forgive me.” Adam responded with, “If he wants to ride my coattails about it, good for him,” Lambert said before giving Aiken a thumbs-up sign.
As for heart break number 2, well that would be Adam Lambert not winning season 8 of American Idol to Kris Allen. Now don’t get me wrong, Kris Allen is talented in his own way. I just do not feel like every week he came out and had a better performance than Adam. I’m sorry. Adam was consistent with his talent and Kris fell flat to most of the performances.
Check out Kris Allen’s new single ‘No Boundaries’ which was written by American Idol judge Kara Dioguardi.
Within the past few days, there has been a report that AT&T may be the reason why Kris won. It’s been reported that AT&T hosted many Kris Allen parties the night of the vote off. They handed out free cell phones and showed users how to ‘power text’ to block other text messages to go through besides their own. American Idol and Fox Broadcasting released a statement saying, “Fox and the producers of ‘American Idol’ are absolutely certain that the results of this competition are fair, accurate and verified. Kris Allen is, without a doubt, the American Idol. We have an independent third-party monitoring procedure in place to ensure the integrity of the voting process. In no way did any individuals unfairly influence the outcome of the competition.” AT&T responded with, “Countless parties were held,” and that “it’s quite a leap to suggest that a few individuals could have impacted the final results.”

It’s a shame Adam didn’t win, but he didn’t have to. He will most likely be the more successful singer between the two. In fact, he could be the most successful Idol associated artist since Clarkson. He might even surpass her success. I don’t watch Idol, so I haven’t really seen too much of the other guy, but I’ve caught a few of Lampert’s performances, and he has something none of the winners or runner ups have, and that’s charisma. The guy bleeds charisma. It doesn’t matter if he’s making out with dudes, or that he looks like a scene kid singing pop songs, he’s fucking good, and he knows to work a crowd. And you don’t even need a good voice to be able to do that, but he has that too.
The Madworld is ok. I’m more partial to the Tears For Fears version over the Gary Jules version that he sings, but it’s still cool. I can’t see him covering the Tears for Fears version anyway. My favorite cover of his is definitely Tracks of My Tears. I feel that performance is kind of underrated.
Anyway, fuck that other guy.
