I’ll Just Leave This Here: Two 1st Graders Cover the Foo Fighters’ ‘Everlong’ Better Than You.

They’re soooo cute and soooo talented!! I say fuck school and take this shit on the road.

I can tell she wants me...

If Dave Grohl was a smart man (he is) he would have these tikes open for them on the Foo Fighters next tour. I’m just saying… For giving you this great idea, can I please have thirteen hundred dollars Mr. Grohl?

You two did a fantastic job.  Keep it up!

    • Rootbeerjello

You kids are incredibly talented! The boy’s a great guitarist for his age (or any age!) , and the girl really has a powerful voice. And I can hear you changing the guitar and vocal rhythms, which a lot of kids your age would never dream of doing, I know I wouldn’t. You two have real talent!

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kevin-Lawson/684418282 Kevin Lawson

lol a great guitarist for any age

  • anon

Hey no less amazing, but if these kids are 1st graders then they’ve been in 1st grade a LONG time. The girl is 11 and the boy is 12.

    • sandalwood.ie

Yeah we are 11 and 12 we dont have first grade in Ireland what age is first grade?

      • Guest

        Year 2

      • Thorne

Usually about age 6 or 7. I knew these kids had to be older than that.

        • Guest

they would pass for 8 and 9.  I guess Irish kids look younger.  Potato(e) diet :)

          • Me

            the face paint helps….

          • Ppwr

why does everyone make fun of the Irish? did we do something wrong? my fiance picks on me about it all the time and on Easter his aunt threw potatoes in my hair!

          • Alex Loudon

bahahaha fiddly-di potatoes, you wee leprechaun!

      • Kal

If you’re 11/12, then although you’d be “First Years” under the UK’s system, under the American “grade” system you’d be “6th graders”.  First graders would be 6-7 as Thorne mentioned.  You might want to change the title (if you can) otherwise any American visitors are going to be confused or feel misled ;)  Great work, really enjoyed that!

        • Eddy Smith

Actually, under the UK system, you’d be in Year 7.
We don’t have ‘first years’ here. It’s actually really similar to America, just one year different, e.g.
          First Grade=Year 2.

          • guest

At my school in the UK our year 7 was called ‘First year’ #justsaying

          • BeeDee

Yeah, true but that was a good 10 years ago. You became a 1st year after you started secondary school at the age of 11.
Now kids become year 1′s when they are 5/6 and progress all the way through junior (primary in old terms) until you are 16 and in Year 11.
No need to split hairs, these kids are amazing! The girl has a great voice, i’m sure she is destined for fame (as long as she desires it).

          • maisie

Under the private school system in the UK, Year 7 is called First Year. Year 8 is Second Year, so on and so forth. So yes, the tern First Year is still used today.

          • Trouble With Tim

who cares what grade they are in… this is music, not math… they get top grades in my book!

          • ali

Depends of the private school Cheltenham College name their years 1-13.

        • Ciaran

The kids are Irish. The UK system is different to that of the one in Ireland. So Year 7 in the UK would be 1st year in Ireland.

        • CaptainOblivious

Um… yeah they would be in year 7 … it’s not Harry Potter they aren’t little first years off to Hogwarts… just sayin’.

  • Blag_Ripper

Hey kids, play a real song, don’t waste your talent on this trendy crap. The band foo foo fighters is total shite, you do make it sound better than the original though.

    • Blag_Ripper_is_an_idiot

First off, you’re an idiot. This is one of the biggest rock songs of the 90s, and Dave Grohl is one of the best rockers of the decade. I’d cringe to find out what sort of garbage you would dare call music if you think this is crap. I’m going to take a shot in the dark here, you’re a huge fan of The Smiths, aren’t you?

Now that I’ve got that out of the way, excellent work, you two! I really hope Dave Grohl sees this. You’d make him proud.

      • sandalwood.ie

haha thanks well we actually are also love Morrissey :)

      • mrkmgs

Did you just admit to hating the Smiths?… I bet you hate the Pixies too? I like the Foo Fighters, but c’mon. I bet Dave Grohl would say Morrissey is more talented than him.

      • 105.5 RealRockRadio

First off, Dave Grohl is not one of the best rockers of any decade, in fact he drums like a 10yr old girl playing trendy Top40 pop music, that is why you slurp his sausage.

Now go back to your local Target store and buy some more of your so called rock music, loser.

        BTW, You kids are Rock!

  • Lachessys

are u people serious??  this is horrible…

I hate when people say something is good just because a couple of cute kids do it……he can’t play and she can’t sing, I’ve seen 5 year old kids do better.

    • Voice of Reason

lets put this in terms your meager little brain would be able to comprehend.  if these kids auditioned for any nationally televised tv show with just audio recordings and no other information provided, they would pass the first rounds easily making it to televised performances.  now their youth comes into consideration.  they’re good enough to show up adult singers and their talents are nowhere near their peaks.  these kids can go a long way up. dont hate just cuz you cant duplicate.
ps – good work you too! keep it up!

      • cwolf20

Listen.  I am not in any way saying it’s bad at all, but there are definitely some miscues.  It’s completely expected.  They’re 11!

But you’re deluding yourself if you think audio only gets them through without anyone knowing how old they are.

Thanks Stumbleupon!  This is a good one.

      • voice of shut the f**k up

Your “meager little brain” clearly can’t comprehend proper grammar.

    • musicjunkie

I don’t think their talent is what makes this special at all.  I think this video is very cool because it captures what looks to have been a pretty cool little happening.  If you believe the blurb on the video, it was an impromptu step-up.  I love the way the crowd are surprised to see the kids can actually perform, then the kids are surprised at the crowd reaction!  I found it quite emotional actually, but I couldn’t fully explain why.  Basically I felt I was ‘there’.

    • Lol @ Fail Troll

10 bucks says your 20 something year old ass couldn’t play or sing even close to their quality even IF you had googled the tabs for it. Stick to Trolling in video games and have your mom make me another ham sandwich.

  • Clive

Yeah ‘First Year’ (11-12yrs old) was the old UK system.  Now it’s year 6 is the new UK system, imported rubbish from US like simesters, SATS, starting formal education at 4yrs old, etc

    • mrkmgs

Did they import English too with their “simesters”?

  • Ducky

    Meh
Nothing against their talent, because these little kiddies definitely have more talent than the Justin Beiber’s and Rebecca Blacks that surround them, but I didn’t like this.
Everlong is one of my favorite songs, one of the best of the 90′s, but you know what? It’s about sex. It can be romantic, but it’s not some deep love song. It’s about sex, and I don’t wanna hear some 11 year old kids singing that song. It kinda ruins it for me. I would MUCH rather hear the original than this. Hell even if it was some deep romantic love song, hearing little kids sing it just doesn’t do a song like that justice. A lot of people consider songs by artists like Teddy Pendergrass and Barry White to be romantic as well as sexy but would you wanna hear little kids singing their music. No.

Pick a different song to showcase your talent next time and I think people would like it a little more. But regardless of the song choice, keep playing because you do have talent :)

    • musicjunkie

I like your argument but actually I don’t agree that the song is definitely about physical love to start with.  And then, hearing this version made me think of it a whole new way.  I started to think of it almost as about a mystical level rather than physical, or even necessarily romantic love.  I also would generally hold the view that the meaning of any piece of art or performance is in the mind of the beholder rather than the creator.  I have little doubt Grohl meant it to be about physical love when he wrote it!  But I’m personally fully comfortable with hearing this song one day by Foos and thinking it’s about one thing, then hearing the same song another day by these kids and thinking of it as something entirely different.

      • mrkmgs

Music is what you make of it, but as an actual definition Grohl did write this song about sex.

  • guest

Proof that there is still hope for the music of tomorrow.

    • Kawaiikohso

      You’re an absolute idiot.

  • Jawsh

I’m gonna look out for these kids when I’m older. She’s got some serious chops for her age!

seriously? this is literally the easiest song to play, even a 8 year old can do it

    • sarahD

Agreed.  Well, pretty easy anyhow.  Well, playing it is easy, performing it is another thing.

  • Arielle

JEALOUS! These two did an amazing job!!

  • TANKTOP

painful.  painful that they’re almost as good as me!!

  • blowingchunks

    reddit!!!!

  • Jony

they are actually not so good! well they are not bad for their ages, but there are better talented kids out there! way better singers and better guitarists!  this song is pretty simple as well….

    • TrippyHippy

I agree that the level of talent is modest.  I think the performance, however, is extraordinary.  I got chills.  Looked like the crowd did too.  I think that’s the charm of t his clip, it looked like an unexpected special performance which is quite rare in the spectrum of karaoke to over-polished professionals.
