1- term limits. come on really? yay 12 years of his vision.
2- i hate hate hate green new york. the only way new york city can actually go green is if i am legend happens. people sitting around eating lunch where cars should be. yuck.
3- the mta. how did they get a fare increase?!? the bridges and tunnels make a huge amount of money each year but they need more money for what? to take even longer fix anything…. the clove road construction literally started before ww2 and they’ll never be done.
3- he pays himself a dollar a year. douche bag
4- he doesn’t really ride the subway to work everyday.
5- i loved his 5 trips to israel on tax payer’s dime (eww did i really say that) since 2002

Ian, I agree.

In the discussions about Staten Island politics (which are interesting in it’s own right) let me give some history for our out of city readers.

Staten Island is a Republican Borough, home of the NY based tea parties (facepalm). This election was REALLY interesting because Bloomberg got 54% (give or take a point) of the SI vote while SI republicans won by miles.

SI Politics runs like small scale New Jersey Politics. Corruption abound. The only shining light I found was the victory of Debbi Rose, the first black elected official on Staten Island. (Albeit her district is the “Downtown” district, that actually SHOULD be dictating the direction of the island.)

The governor didn’t stop him this time, because Bloomberg is the right man for the job. I highly doubt he’ll run for a 4th term.

The governor CAN’T do what Bloomberg did because he answers to Congress/President. And they wont let him do it.

and to be honest, if NYC keeps moving in this positive direction, I’l keep supporting him.

All i can say is thank god for republican Staten Island because had Thompson, it would have been a greater regret. President Obama didn’t even give him a proper endorsement. Things might be better for the next four years because we now have John Liu for Comptroller, who will definitely do a far better job than Thompson. Second, we’ll most likely have Andrew Cuomo as Governor the next time so a fourth term would be very unlikely.

P.S. Who re-elected James Molinaro and Vincent Ignizio?

the Governor didn’t stop him running for a third term. What makes you think the governor won’t decide “Hey, this Bloomberg guy has it right and im just going to keep running as well.” then we will never be able to have any change as it will just end up being the same people in office. At that point they are only servicing their own needs and not the needs of the people (I guess that happens anyway)

The problem is that he went ran for a third term without bringing it to the popular vote. If he would of brought him running for a third term to the voters and they all voted yes then no big deal but when you can just go to the city council and say “Hey, here is a ton of money let me run for a third term.” It gets a little ridiculous. what is going to stop him from running for a 4th term?
