The Simpsons haven’t been significant culturally since about 1999, mostly because they’ve repeatedly dropped the ball in terms of quality. The positive contributions to pop-culture from the series have been few and far between since then.
Today, I stumbled on a rare post-2000 bright spot from our four fingered, yellow friends. Someone in-house at The Simpsons recently put together a supercut of Grandpa Simpson’s cranky old man diatribes.
It’s wonderful.
Actually, after watching it I realize that the clip was pretty much comprised of Simpsons animation from before 1999. Which, that pretty much reinforces my first statement.
Oh Well. Thank God we can buy the old seasons on DVD.
