Did your DVR/TIVO cut off American Idol too?
You are not alone. Thousands of complaints are stacking up because front-runner Adam Lambert’s performance was cut off due to the show going over the 1 hour and 1 minute air time.

Last night on American Idol, the theme was ‘The Year You Were Born.’ The show was set to finish at 9:01 PM. Unfortunately due to host Ryan Seacrest’s inability to do anything right, the show went way over the time allowed and many people who taped the show, were unable to see Adam’s performance. He did his own rendition of ‘Mad World’ by Tears For Fears and got a standing ovation from all the judges. That’s right, I said all the judges. That includes Simon Cowell. If this kid doesn’t win, something is extremely wrong with the show.
Adam has never been in the bottom three before, and if he is tonight, we will know whose fault it is.
If you missed his performance, check it out here:

despite this being a cover of a cover, AND it being American Idol, he did a great job.
Also, with Donnie Darko being all “cool” now, it’s obvious Adam is being prepped for the win.

The show running long is the newest assault on the rights of the viewer to record what they want to watch and skip commercials. American Idol is far from the only show that does this. It is becoming common practice for networks to do this. They have declared war on the DVR. I have stopped watching several of my favorite shows because I should not have to “pad” the end of every recording I make with extra minutes because networks can’t/won’t keep their show in the confines of an hour.

ummmm DVR?
i thought thats what hulu was for?
lol
yeah, i think TV in general is mind numbing at times. but i guess my question is, why did so many get upset? i didnt think the major population worked so late? Or maybe they were actually doing something productive, like eating dinner, or at a ballgame, or drinking with friends…
its only my opinion, but i think the DVR has given us a glimpse of our lives without TV. Think about this… if you had no DVR, what would most of be doing… watching TV waiting for our show. With the DVR, it gives us a choice to sit and watch TV OR do something we really want to do.
i mean, really… we dont do most of what we really want to do, because we are glued to the TV.
but again, just an opinion. no fact, reference, backing, proof, sources, or anything like that. how do you feel about my opinion. and Why? or even care?
