Dear Time Life,
I know how the game works, people are probably asking you for free stuff all the time. I also know that times are tough in this economy, and business is business. So why should you send me, a nobody, amazingly free stuff?
Because I have earned it, GOD DAMMIT!
Last Tuesday, I made it my mission in life to take your YouTube video “Cuba Gooding, Sr. blog intro” and put it in front of the wanting eyes of the internet. My early attempts of posting it on 4chan.org as a de-motivational poster (see below)
and on buzzfeed.com
both proved futile, so I did what every good American would do… I gave up. I had decided that I wasn’t going to make ol’ Cuba a star re-born. So I did the next best thing, I began tweeting about it. I decided to send the video to our good friend Michelle Collins from BWE.tv, as she has similar tastes in online entertainment; At the most I figured she would enjoy it.
Michelle also loved it, AND let us know she intended on posting it on the Best Week Ever blog. If that was the case, this mission might be completed after all!
Michelle, the wonderful human being that she is, actually posted about it (twice!!) and made sure to let the world know about the video, and more importantly for my case.. that someone from our website gave her the tip!
Thanks to the boost from BWE, the video starring Mr. Gooding, exploded! (At least in Time/Life standards) Even tho It happened accidentally, my plan succeeded!
The video went from a measly 288 views to now having 1,688 and counting (not to mention that people started posting it on Facebook.)
So, lets talk compensation should we? I’d like to receive a free copy of Classical Power, the new 5 disc collection being advertised now. This deliciously entertaining and culturally stimulating set will surely add value to my life!
