Ever Want to Build Your Own Lightsaber? TOO LATE – This Guy Did It First

While it’s not a real lightsaber, because those are fantasy and scientifically impossible, this guy does a pretty nice job of building his own version of the display-only lightsabers.

This is the one that started it all for me and illuminated lightsabers. This is the Obi Wan Kenobi Episode IV “A New Hope” lightsaber. The offerings from Master Replicas and Hasbro have that extra fat windvane piece that is pretty much meh.

So I decided I needed to make myself one out of the most accurate reproductions of the vintage parts, or the vintage parts themselves. I set out to make the most screen accurate ANH Obi saber I could, and here is my build log for it.

Wow, get a life dude.

But seriously, I commend this nerd-bro for his dedication to hand making something that I could just buy on amazon for like $120. (Not that I would even waste that on a stupid nerd toy when I could buy this.)

This Action Movie From India Does it Better Than America Ever Could

Let me just open up with how disgusted I am with American Action Cinema right now. These movies cost millions and millions of dollars to make and all the really cool shit is typically made by a computer. On top of that, the movies typically suck and the so-called action is more like a video game than anything that would ever get my blood pumping.

The clip I’m about to show you is from the most expensive telegu movie ever made, Magadheera, whose budget was $7 million.

WHAT.

Yes, $7,000,000. Compare that to Live free or Die Hard whose budget was $110 million.

ummm, nevermind.

Conan O’Brien’s New Show officlally has a name – Conan

And he made a cute little video to tell all of his waning adoring fans!

LOL Conaw.

This is pretty egotistical awesome, as he’s following the tradition of other huge television show/personalities like Donahue, Geraldo, Maury, and Oprah, wait, is this going to be in the daytime? Good thing I don’t have a real job. Suckers.

AM-DJ: Pizza’s the food that’s sure to please, These ninjas are into pepperoni and cheese.

Long before Vanilla Ice blessed us with the Ninja Rap, Partners In Kryme displayed TURTLE POWER! That’s right boys and girls, this morning I’m giving you another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle themed hip-hop masterpiece.

You may not remember it, but this musical monster actually hit #13 on the Billboard hot 100 chart which means it was a pretty big hit. How could it not be? Just look at the album cover:

Amazing.

James Franco: Great Performance Artist or Greatest Performance Artist?

I don’t know if many people know this but actor James Franco, from Spider Man and Pineapple Express fame, is leading a very very busy life. Between acting gigs he is attending classes at multiple Ivy League Colleges at the same time.

Here’s the list: he is currently attending Columbia University’s MFA writing program, NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts for filmmaking, Brooklyn College for fiction writing and then traveling to North Carolina’s Warren Wilson College for poetry. This fall he will also be attending Yale’s Ph.D. program in English and not to be considered a slacker also the Rhode Island School of Design.

WTF! That’s 6 different colleges. How can a human being accomplish all this? Sam Anderson from New York Magazine wrote a great expose on Franco and he believes:

According to everyone I spoke with, Franco has an unusually high metabolism for productivity. He seems to suffer, or to benefit, from the opposite of ADHD: a superhuman ability to focus that allows him to shuttle quickly between projects and to read happily in the midst of chaos. He hates wasting time—a category that includes, for him, sleeping.

WOWOWOWOW.

I can’t say enough GREAT things about that article. It’s a fascinating chronicle of the hectic life Franco is leading. But the real question becomes why is he doing all this? Is he really interested in accumulating knowledge or is it all an elaborate real life performance piece. Continue reading this post →

Angry Birds Gets Optioned for a Movie – I Died a Little On The Inside

Yes folks, Angry Birds, the super-addictive iPhone game, is being shopped around as a movie.

Rovio’s execs are currently scheduling meetings around Hollywood with the idea of turning their iPhone game into a TV show, comic book, and/or feature film.  Yes, an iPhone-game-based feature film. No word on whether they expect it to be CGI, live-action, or some horrible Squeaquel combination of the two, but Rovio CEO Mikael Hed reportedly enjoys Wallace & Gromit-style claymation.

Bro, this is bad news, because we are only 2 logical steps away from “Fart App: The Movie”  (which is a lot like Revenge of the Nerds in my mind).

Okay, well that’s news. Let me just get into Angry Birds the game now, which is awesome.

Am I the only one that has a problem with those fucking Boomarang birds? I mean I can’t get past that first part, where there are little pigs underneath the main platform. You know what I’m talking about? Yeah, that one, WTF man?

Also, does anyone have a walkthrough or something so I can find the golden eggs. I mean, I wish the game had a lil more documentation.

OH! I almost forgot!

A reader of some blog (whatever that is) called PopCandy MADE A HOME VERSION OF THE GAME. As in, A VERSION YOU PLAY IN REAL LIFE AND NOT ON A TINY SCREENED THING!

Very cute!

Mr. Shake Hands Man Shakes Hands

It would be awesome if Mr. Shake Hands Man was a real person but sadly that’s not case. He’s from a British gambling show, called Banzai, that spoofs crazy Japanese TV programming. Basically they set up a scenario, like Punk’d, then the audience has to bet on how long the “event” will last.

I bet you can’t even begin to guess what Mr. Shake Hands Man gimmick is…

Mr. Shake Hands Man (played by Japanese-American actor Tadao Tomomatsu), has to maintain a handshake with a celebrity for as long as possible.

Lets see how long he can shake Mr. Bill Murray’s hand during an interview.

It’s HILARIOUS and guaranteed to help you get rid of your case of Mondays.

Witness the Absurdity That Will Be The Next Twilight Movie

I have learned, from a trusted source, that the events depicted in the following video actually do happen in the Breaking Dawn book.

Seriously, these books are written for morons.
