Avon Junkies - Let Me In (Music Video & Interview)

On 06/08/2008 Dog and Pony Show produced the music video for “Let Me In” off of the Avon Junkies album “The Merchant’s Tale.” With an interview from Vin Forte.

The video was filmed under the direction of Nick Caccese, and stars Rachael Patten, Rocco Lacapria, and Jennifer Cocoziello (with hidden cameos from DAPS Staffers. Look for them carefully)

More Photos from the shoot (Courtesy Dave @ Freshgrafix.net) can be found on our myspace page.

The Mighty Vin sent over some questions for Avon Junkies after the filming:

How did you all come together to form Avon Junkies?

We have a great bio on our website www.AvonJunkies.com that was written by a writer much better than myself explaining our history. Here’s a quick and easy overview which you can read in the meantime:

Avon Junkies started in 1999 as a 3 piece consisting of Mike, Sean, and Adam. We had met in Tottenville High School (Staten Island, NY) and formed the band during that time. Chris was referred to us in 2005 by a mutual friend who knew we were looking to add a horn section. In 2007 Stef, who had been a friend of Chris’, joined the band, completing the lineup.

Who are your main influences as a band? Why?

We are all influenced by many different genres of music including punk, ska, metal, blues, classic rock, jazz, and reggae.

I heard you showed some DAPS videos to members of Dashboard Confessional. What were their thoughts on DAPS?

While I, (Adam), was working with Dashboard I showed them the “Internet Infomercial” video. We were looking at funny videos on YouTube and I told them this was making me laugh for weeks. They thought it was hilarious and definitely original.

What role do your fans play in the whole Avon Junkies lifestyle?

They play one of the most important roles in this band, motivation. They are what really keeps us going. Our best performances are always the ones where our fans are there going crazy and singing along with every song. Without them we couldn’t have made this music video. We have amazing fans and we love them for it.

What was it like shooting a music video with the Dog and Pony Show?

It was incredibly professional. We were actually surprised that a group who does mainly comedy shorts was so good at this type of production. There was a giant crew, multiple cameras, all kinds of lighting rigs, and an especially comforting environment. We’re nobody famous or important but they made sure we were happy, comfortable, and had everything we needed every step of the way.

Your song “Never Be” is very epic in length and tone. Is that what you were going for? If not, than what?

I don’t think we ever have a specific goal when we write songs. “Never Be” definitely gives a good description of the diversity in our music, actually it might be the song on the album that does that the best. I think the only song we intended to be “epic” was “The Merchant’s Tale”. “Never Be” just came from…….us, no better way of saying it.

What is your favorite section or part of the DAPS site and why?

Well, the videos are definitely our favorite so far but the entire site is great, especially the hot chicks, thanks for them Flam.

What is your craziest road story?

We haven’t done much touring but the stories we have……well we’ll keep them to ourselves for now, to protect our saint-like reputations.

So, what’s next on the horizon for Avon Junkies? (movies, tv, porn?)

We are playing shows like crazy as well as writing a lot of new songs. We’re basically doing everything we can to keep this band going and growing.

Well there it is; You should go visit the band at their website or on their myspace profile. You can even buy the album @ interpunk here!
