10 Reasons to Respect Lady Gaga
What chall know bout Lady Gaga. Ignant asshats…

After watching this video of a 19 year old Lady Gaga, then known only as Stefani Germanotta a 19 year old college student, I needed to know how the hell such a horrible transformation could have happened.
At first, I was outraged. The signature bizarre wardrobe and the over-the-top performances were both just symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder. This girl was clearly a victim of a brutal rape perpetrated by American Pop-Culture. Then I changed my mind. I decided that Stefani was obviously a gasping last breath of the record industry’s current dying era, which should be suffocated out of compassion. Either way I KNEW Lady Gaga was not a good thing.
I now realize I was a moron.
Thanks to one Google search, I was let in on the joke (as well as the reasons to respect young Germanotta.)
Lady Gaga is an Ironic representation of all of the things that I was outraged by. Inspired by David Bowie and Freddie Mercury’s style as well as the flare for performance shared by Madonna and Michael Jackson, Gaga is and always has aimed to be the anti-hero of the music industry.
Here are those reasons to respect her by the way:
- Gaga’s avant garde antics are inspired by the one and only Andy Warhol.
- She’s a good singer/songwriter (check the above video if you haven’t)
- Performance, Music, Dance, Fashion…Gaga expresses herself in layers as opposed to other modern acts who suck.
- She knows mad philosophy and shit.
- She’s got ink. 9 tattoos in all.
- Paparazzi is catchy as shit, STFU.
- She References everything from Queen to Def Leppard in her music.
- Mad L.A. Reid cred…
- She got into Julliard at age 11.
- This Rolling Stone cover.

As Carlo says… Prove me wrong.

Every time I hear “Poker Face”, I want to punch a small child. I don’t even know why, I just do.

lady gaga is one of the greatest performance artists i’ve seen in a while. Like Warhol, she warrants a muse.

my fave part is that this all goes over every 12yo’s head.

AND she got her name from the Queen song Radio Ga Ga!
Yeah there’s no doubt about it, I’m totally a fan. Her performance at the VMAs was so shockingly hilarious/awesome.
i loved every second of it.

I understand completely. I usually loathe pop music in its many forms, but I was drawn to Lady Gaga the first time I actually heard one of her songs. It was clear from the start that she plays characters, but only to criticize those archetypes (drunk bitch, pop star, diva, shock artist, etc.). I love the conflict inherent in making your living as someone you partly despise.

I think she is great. She has a beautiful voice as you can hear in the video above. ‘Lady Gaga’ is a character she performs as. I give props to the girl for being so daring.

She’s kind of a Grace Jones of our time too, but on a more “me” note, I would totally do bad things to 19 yr old brunette gaga….while she tore up the piano, I’d tear her up.
Can’t wait till I’m famous so I can bleach my hair and wear a bird’s nest on my penis….I mean head….no I meant penis.

Lady Gaga is a poser I have no idea why people are basically worshipping her. And by the way it’s Def Leppard, not Leopard.

Gina Marie: Thanks for Pointing out the Leppard spelling, spell check hates band names :/
Also, Wouldn’t calling her a poser fails to take into account that she’s performing ironically. The whole thing is a sort of inside joke to her, going over the heads of the masses.
